| Khromphra Chanthaburi Narunart is also referred to as Prince Kitiyakara Voralaksana, Prince of Chandaburi. He was the oldest living son (two others died before the age of 2) and 12th child and of King Chulalongkorn. Educated in England, he became Minister of Finance when he returned to Thailand. As President of the Commission for the Advancement of Commerce and Minister of Commerce is is known as thr forefather of the Thai Ministry of Commerce. The descendants of the Prince of Chandaburi use the surname of Kitiyakara, among whom Her Majesty Queen Sirikit is a family member. |

MINISTRY OF COMMERCE The
main building of Ministry of Commerce is located in the area of
former palaces which were built in the third reign (1824-1851). The
land was transferred to the government in the sixth reign
(1910-1925) and has belonged to the government since then. The
three-storied main building has several details that were influenced
by European architecture. |
